Report: Ole Miss DT Robert Nkemdiche cleared to play against Texas A&M
Ole Miss defensive coordinator Dave Wommack said junior defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche has passed all concussion protocol tests and will play against Texas A&M Saturday, according to Richard Cross, sideline reporter for the Ole Miss IMG Sports Network.
Nkemdiche suffered the concussion in the first half of the Rebels’ 37-24 loss to Memphis last Saturday while running the football on offense. Coach Hugh Freeze said Wednesday that Nkemdiche had one last series of tests to pass Thursday.
Ole Miss safety Trae Elston was cleared from the concussion protocol Wednesday. Punter Will Gleeson and backup linebacker Tayler Polk were also going through the concussion protocol this week, but no update has been reported.
Nkemdiche, who is regarded as a top-5 NFL draft pick if he declares after the season, has 17 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and four quarterback hurries through Ole Miss’ first seven games.
