Ole Miss had already lost the game to Florida State. Now, the Rebels have lost two players for the season.
Per the Parrish Alford of the Daily Journal, redshirt freshman running back Eric Swinney is out for the season after leaving the 45-34 loss with a left knee injury. Earlier in the game, the Rebels lost defensive back Ken Webster to a left knee injury.
Both Webster and Swinney had to be carted off the field. Swinney was a 4-star recruit in the class of 2015 out of Tyrone, Ga. He was the No. 13 running back prospect in the country that year.
Swinney is the second Ole Miss running back to be lost for the season. Junior running back Jordan Wilkins was ruled academically ineligible in August after an academic issue.
Chad Kelly has proven that he is a capable runner and the Rebels still have senior running back Akeem Judd. The Rebels return to action this Saturday when they take on Wofford at home. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
