Shea Patterson’s friends have asked him an interesting question.
In a nice piece by Bleacher Report’s Matt Hayes published Tuesday, the Rebels quarterback touched on a number of topics about his experience at Ole Miss so far. Included near the end is a fascinating bit in which Patterson revealed that friends have questioned how the former 5-star prospect ended up at the school.
“I had friends ask me, ‘How much are they paying you?'” Patterson told Hayes. “It’s crazy that people think that’s why I’m here. I’m here because I love Ole Miss. I’m not going anywhere.”
To be frank, it’s not surprising that some would ask Patterson that question. After all, Ole Miss is no traditional power like Alabama. Sure, the Rebels gained recruiting momentum during the Hugh Freeze era. But it won’t keep some from being suspicious about how Patterson joined Ole Miss, especially with the large dark cloud lingering over the Rebels with the recent NCAA trouble.
Still, it’s not a shock to see Patterson defend his love for Ole Miss in this way.
