Quarterback Shea Patterson reportedly has been granted permission by Ole Miss to talk to programs about a possible transfer.
On Saturday, Ole Miss Spirit’s David Johnson reported the development, a day after the NCAA handed down its penalties for the Rebels after a lengthy investigation into the program’s off-field trouble. Certainly, losing Patterson would be a blow, but the fact that Patterson is exploring the option isn’t surprising.
Patterson should be highly sought after. A former 5-star recruit, he was the No. 1 quarterback in the Class of 2016, per 247Sports’ composite rankings. He has 3,139 yards passing with 23 touchdowns and 12 interceptions for his career.
With Ole Miss granting permission, programs now are free to contact Patterson about a possible move.
