What’s one of the first things former Ole Miss star Robert Nkemdiche did after he was selected in the first round of last Thursday’s NFL draft?
He made a friend on the streets of Chicago.
TMZ Sports caught up with Nkemdiche after he was picked, and a homeless man approached the defensive lineman during the interview. Nkemdiche immediately diverted his attention away from the camera to embrace the individual.
The video then cuts to Nkemdiche handing the man some money.
Nkemdiche fist bumps the man, telling him to, “Stay up.”
Known as one of the draft’s most talented prospects, Nkemdiche made headlines off the field leading up the draft when he fell approximately 15 feet from the window of an Atlanta hotel in December. When police arrived on scene, they found a small quantity of marijuana in the room and the former Ole Miss star was charged with marijuana possession.
The Cardinals drafted Nkemdiche with the No. 29 pick of the 2016 NFL Draft after the three-year starter recorded 81 tackles, six sacks and 16 tackles for loss in his time at Ole Miss.
Though this headline is also off the field, it’s definitely a good one.
