Approval rating for Missouri coach Barry Odom: You decide
Barry Odom is beginning to get more familiar with things in Missouri as he is now officially through his first full season and recruiting cycle as Missouri’s head coach.
The former Missouri linebacker, who took over for Gary Pinkel after the longtime coach retired due to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, guided the Tigers to a 4-8 record in his first season. While it wasn’t always pretty, the Tigers did get a win over rival Arkansas and very nearly knocked off Georgia early in the season. Offensive coordinator Josh Heupel helped turn around the offense, but the up-tempo pace also hurt the defense.
As for his first full recruiting cycle, Odom brought in the No. 47 recruiting class in the country, which left the Tigers in 13th among the 14 SEC teams. Odom didn’t land any 4-star recruits and the class had a total of 25 signees. 3-star athlete Daron Davis was the Tigers’ highest rated signing.
Odom earned a guaranteed salary of $2.35 million during his first season at Missouri. In SEC Country’s first approval rating poll, Odom came in with a 71.9 percent approval rating, which left him ranked No. 10 in the SEC.
So, how do Missouri fans feel about Odom? Was Odom’s first season and full recruiting class enough to convince Missouri fans that Odom was the right person to replace Pinkel? Now is your chance to cast your vote.
Vote on Barry Odom’s approval rating
The SEC Country approval rating poll is designed to give an indication of fan happiness over a period of time.
Our formula is based on the percentage of respondents who select each answer. We multiply that percentage by the following factors: 1 (strongly approve), 0.67 (approve), 0.33 (disapprove) and 0.0 (strongly disapprove). In other words, if 50 percent of respondents select “strongly approve” and 50 percent select “approve,” the formula would be (50 x 1) + (50 x 0.67) = 83.5% approval rating.
