University of Missouri police reportedly didn’t have to work too hard to figure out who caused about $100,000 in damage at Mizzou Arena recently.
As reported by The Kansas City Star’s Tod Palmer on Wednesday, police focused on Nathaniel J. Conant as the suspect in the vehicular property damage incident at the arena early Sunday morning because Conant’s cell phone and license plate were left at the scene.
Conant, 23, allegedly drove through two gates and a garage door near the site’s loading dock and reached Mizzou Arena’s court with his Volkswagen Passat. He was arrested on suspicion of two felonies, second-degree burglary (Class D felony) and first-degree property damage (Class E felony).
Conant was employed temporarily as a utility worker for the SEC Network. But an athletic department spokesman told Palmer that Conant is no longer an employee as of Monday.
This is a bizarre case in so many ways. But if everything happened as reported, Conant didn’t do much to help his cause.
