Missouri was the first SEC program to come open this year, but it was not the only one. Shortly after the Columbia Tigers fired Kim Anderson, LSU also let go of its coach, Johnny Jones.
And while Mizzou filled its vacancy on Wednesday afternoon when it hired Cal’s Cuonzo Martin, the job is Baton Rouge remains open. So even though Missouri officially has a coach, while LSU does not, that does not answer the question of: Which of Missouri or LSU is the better job.
On GASN’s Rise and Fire Hoops show, Fox Sports’ Tim Brando was asked that question, and he gave a definitive answer: Mizzou is the better place to run a basketball program:
While LSU has been to more Final Fours than Missouri — who has never made it to college basketball’s biggest stage — Brando was careful to point out just how much football dominates the conversation in Baton Rouge, whereas Columbia could very well be seen as a basketball-first campus.
