Missouri coach Barry Odom signed another recruiting class on Wednesday, and he seemed very proud of the future Tigers.
The class missed out on a couple key targets, but the Tigers should still be in decent shape moving forward. Here’s what Odom had to say about the Tigers’ National Signing Day performance:
On overall Signing Day thoughts:
“You’re not going to hear one coach say anything other than they’re really excited about the class. For us, the way that our recruiting department and assistant coaches identified players a year ago at this time in preparation for today, we hit a high percentage of those. Especially those who were able to come on an official visit. They were able to write their own narrative on what our university is and is about, and to see themselves within the vision and the scope of what we’re going to do in this program.”
On the early signing period:
“It was a little bit unique going into it for the first time, but we signed 21 guys who were committed to us in December. The time between then and up until today, we spent a lot of time on next year’s class and getting a jump on that, as did everybody else in the country. The number of guys who were available to go recruit here in the month of January was obviously different. It’ll be interesting to see how the cycle plays out going into year two with (the early signing period).
On the personality of the 2018 class:
“It’s a very determined group, would be a good descriptor for them. They’ve got something to prove and they’re excited to get here.”
