Don’t tell any Missouri players that the school didn’t make a splash in hiring defensive coordinator Barry Odom as its head coach. The players seemed more than pleased with the decision.
Odom, who has served as Mizzou’s defensive coordinator for one season, was swarmed by linebacker Kentrell Brothers and the entire team as he was introduced as Missouri’s next head coach. The team went into an uproar upon seeing Odom and chants of “Barry, Barry” broke out in the meeting room.

Odom returned to Missouri this season after serving as Memphis’ defensive coordinator from 2012-14. He played for Missouri from 1996-99 and worked at various positions within the program from 2003-11.
Odom will have some tough shoes to fill in Gary Pinkel, who suddenly retired after this season. The good news is Odom won’t have to worry about getting his players to buy in. They’re all in on Odom.
