The senior running back has been a consistent part of No. 22 Mizzou’s offense since his sophomore year, and he totaled career highs with 1,084 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns last season.
Hansbrough took to Twitter after his injury announcement:
Never stress over things that you can not control.

After spraining his ankle against Southeast Missouri State on Sept. 5, Hansbrough was walking around with a cast on his right leg (ESPN.com). He took just five carries against Arkansas State this past Saturday before sitting out most of the final three quarters.
Pinkel said he doesn't think Russell Hansbrough hurt his ankle any more: "Just wanted to back him off a little bit."

Now, Missouri turns to backup Ish Witter, who has piled up just 83 yards on 25 carries through the first two contests.
Coach Gary Pinkel told media on Monday that quarterback Maty Mauk (675 career rushing yards) will also need to take many of the newly available carries.
Pinkel on Mauk: "We're going to have to run him a little bit more. I think that's pretty obvious." #Mizzou
