Mizzou basketball fans have even more reason to be excited for this season. According to CBS Sports reporter Gary Parrish, Class of 2018 power forward Jontay Porter is reclassifying and enrolling at Missouri in order to team up with his brother, small forward Michael Porter Jr.
The 6-foot-10 Jontay Porter made it all but clear that he intends to suit up for the Tigers this fall when asked by Parrish.
“Yeah, for sure,” he answered with a smile at the Nike Peach Jam event here on the Georgia-South Carolina border. “That’s a safe assumption.”
Parrish has Jontay Porter ranked as the No. 10 prospect in the Class of 2018. Michael Porter Jr. is the No. 1 prospect from the Class of 2017.
The addition of the Porter brothers is a boon to a program which has went 8-46 in conference play in the last three seasons.
Missouri’s Class of 2017, ranked No. 8 nationally, will rise even higher when Jontay Porter enrolls.
In addition to the Porter brothers, Missouri also has another top-40 recruit in center Jeremiah Timon.
Jontay Porter added that he’s certain he can make an immediate impact on the court at the college level.
“I wouldn’t enroll early at Mizzou unless I felt that way,” he said. “So I’m pretty confident.”
