Campbell and Rhule are the first reported outside interviews for Missouri, which is replacing the winningest coach in school history. Gary Pinkel announced he is resigning at the end of the season to focus on his health. Players voiced their support for Missouri defensive coordinator Barry Odom after the team’s loss Friday against Arkansas. Later in the day Saturday, Alex Marvez of Fox Sports reported that Odom will receive a second interview with Rhoades.
Campbell, 35, is 35-15 in four-plus years at Toledo, which is where Missouri went in 2001 to hire Pinkel. The Rockets have now won nine games three times in four years with Campbell. Iowa State is also reported to be keenly interested in his services.
Rhule, 40, is 18-18 at Temple after his Owls finished a rout of UConn on Saturday. Temple has improved from 2-10 to 6-6 and now 10-2 in his three years, and the Owls will play Houston in the American Athletic Conference championship game next week.
