Barry Odom and the Missouri Tigers have secured the commitment of a major in-state prospect for their 2019 class.
Jack Buford, a 6-foot-5, 320-pound tackle from Lutheran North High School in St. Louis, committed to the Tigers on Wednesday. If he follows through on his commitment, Buford will be the first St. Louis prospect to reach Mizzou since the recruiting class of 2016.
Buford officially visited Missouri last weekend, which seems to have sealed the deal.
“This decision was not easy,” Buford said at his announcement, according to Sean Williams of PowerMizzou.com. “I would like to thank all 32 schools who offered me a chance to be part of their universities … I can only go to one school. I would like to announce that I am 110 percent committed to the University of Missouri.”
The 247Sports composite ranks Buford as a 4-star prospect and the eighth-best prospect in Missouri.
He is versatile and talented enough to play at tackle or guard. He chose the Tigers over Arkansas, Oklahoma, Auburn and Georgia.
Buford’s commitment is the third for the Missouri recruiting class of 2019, which ranks 13th in the SEC and 58th in the nation.
