2021 and 2022 mark the greatest two-year run in Georgia football history. Back-to-back national championships ended a 41-year drought and delivered a breakthrough fans will never forget. For the players who made it happen, what once felt impossible became the defining achievement of their careers.
One former Bulldog has made sure neither he nor anyone around him will ever forget it.
Over the weekend, former star linebacker Nolan Smith took to Instagram to unveil his new ink commemorating UGA’s two championships.
The detailed forearm sleeve features Georgia’s “G” logo, the years 2021 and 2022, and championship-inspired elements that pay tribute to the Bulldogs’ historic back-to-back titles.
Smith was a force to be reckoned with for Georgia from 2019-2022. During that time, the dynamic LB was an anchor for the Dawgs’ championship teams. The former five-star recruit had his best season as a junior in 2021. Nolan tragically suffered a season-ending injury midway through the 2022 season but still contributed as a vocal leader.
Georgia’s defensive weapon finished his collegiate career with 114 tackles, 21 TFL, 11.5 sacks and an interception. Plus a lot of rings.
Smith was selected No. 30 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. He would go on to win Super Bowl LIX as an Eagle, which he has yet to get a tattoo to honor.
As a Georgia native and an all-time fan favorite, Smith was the textbook definition of a “DGD.”
That has been proven to be true once again.
There is no denying that Nolan Smith loves Georgia and Georgia loves him.
