Canyon Barry — the youngest son of Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Rick Barry — could be going from the CAA to the SEC.
Florida and Ole Miss are among the finalists for the 6-foot-6 College of Charleston graduate transfer guard, according to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman. California, Kansas, Louisville, Miami and Northwestern are also in contention.
Canyon Barry averaged 19.7 points in 13 games for the Cougars last season before a shoulder injury in January forced him to miss the remainder of the campaign. He averaged 9.3 points as a redshirt freshman in the 2013-14 season and 12.5 points the following year.
If Barry chooses the Gators or Rebels, SEC fans will become familiar with his peculiar underhand free-throw-shooting motion. His father, Rick, also used the same method to shoot free throws.
Barry has one season of eligibility remaining and will be eligible to play immediately with his new team since he is a graduate transfer.
