While the 2017 recruiting season is in full swing, one recruiting service has given fans a peek at the top recruits for the class of 2018.
247Sports has released its initial Composite Rankings for the class of 2018. The Composite Ranking takes the ranks of the recruits from every major recruiting service (247Sports, Rivals, ESPN and Scout) and averages the grade of each to give the recruit a score.
At the top of the rankings is quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The Cartersville, Ga, native was given a perfect score. Only three prospects have ever finished with a perfect score: Jadeveon Clowney in 2011, Robert Nkemdiche in 2013 and Rashaun Gary in 2015.
Lawrence is nearing a commitment and Georgia is one of his favorites, along with Tennessee, Florida and Clemson.
There are also several top players who already have committed for the class of 2018, and some of them have picked SEC schools.
LSU has a commitment from 5-star cornerback Kelvin Joseph, who comes in at No. 23 in the rankings. Georgia has a commitment from the No. 46 commit, Max Wray. Wray is an offensive tackle from Franklin, Ga.
Scout.com also recently released a top 300 for the class of 2018. Of those 300, 14 have already committed to SEC programs. Lawrence is the No. 1 recruit in Scout.com’s rankings as well.
