Sporting News released its Preseason All-America teams Wednesday and both teams were anchored with SEC talent on each side of the ball.
The SEC had 13 players make the two squads — five on the first team, eight on the second team — and were led by Alabama with six selections. Tide running back Bo Scarbrough, receiver Calvin Ridley, lineman Jonah Williams, defensive back Ronnie Harrison, punter JK Scott and defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick all made the cut.
After Alabama, Auburn and LSU tied for the most selections with two each. For Auburn, it was running back Kamryn Pettway and kicker Daniel Carlson. For LSU, running back Derrius Guice and defensive end Arden Key made the team.
Also making the list was Arkansas’ Frank Ragnow, Kentucky’s Jordan Jones and Texas A&M’s Christian Kirk.
