The list of colleges that are in heavy pursuit of Ben Smiley seems endless. The 4-star defensive tackle is an extremely disruptive player who can be a terror on the interior of a team’s defensive line.
How close is Smiley to a decision? No one really knows at this point. He does, however, have his list narrowed down to 10 schools — four of which are from the SEC. On Sunday night, he released who made the cut via his Twitter account.

Texas A&M is the latest school to jump at the opportunity to land the premium talent. The Aggies officially extended an offer to the 6-foot-4, 265-pound defensive tackle on Saturday. Yet, they still found themselves in his top 10.
Alabama, Tennessee, and South Carolina were the other three teams to make the list.
The more surprising news may be the team that didn’t make the list. While the favorite to land Smiley is still cloudy at the moment, Virginia Tech was listed as such on 247Sports (40 percent chance according to the Crystal Ball predictions). The Hokies didn’t even make the top 10, however.
Smiley is one of those players who will likely see his name climb the recruiting rankings as things develop over the next year. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he is the No. 354 overall player, No. 24 DT and No. 9 player from Virginia.
