Six seniors in the SEC are the best in college football at their respective positions, according to Pro Football Focus.
PFF’s Steve Palazzolo released his all-senior team Friday. SEC players took one fourth of the 24 spots on the roster.
The league had two representatives on offense and four on defense. Alabama and Florida each had two players on the list. LSU and Ole Miss each had one.
Palazzolo said Alabama’s Jonathan Allen has an “outside shot” to be a Heisman finalist. He’s also No. 2 on PFF’s 2017 NFL Draft board.
“With eight sacks, nine QB hits, and 27 hurries on 270 rushes, Allen has the top pass-rushing grade at 95.0 and he’s been strong against the run at 83.5,” Palazzolo said.
Fellow Crimson Tide defender Reuben Foster also made the list. He is PFF’s top-ranked linebacker overall, not just among seniors.
Palazzalo praised both Florida’s representatives, LB Jarrad Davis and S Marcus Maye, for their ability to play the run and also drop into coverage.
Here are all the SEC players who made the team:
TE – Evan Engram, Ole Miss
OG – Josh Boutte, LSU
DT – Jonathan Allen, Alabama
LB – Reuben Foster, Alabama
LB – Jarrad Davis, Florida
S – Marcus Maye, Florida
