The coaching carousel has seen some big money thrown around. Most notably, Texas A&M gaurunteed Jimbo Fisher a 10-year contract worth $75 million.
Behind every great head coach is his staff of assistants. Names that are only becoming more reconizable because they’re so important.
Tom Schad of USA TODAY recently compiled the highest paid assistants in 2017 and seven SEC coaches were in the top 10.
1. Dave Aranda – LSU defensive coordinator – $1.8 million
3. John Chavis – Texas A&M defensive coordinator – $1.6 million
4. Matt Canada – LSU offensive coordinator -$1.5 million
T-5. Jeremy Pruitt – Alabama defensive coordinator – $1.3 million
T-7. Brian Daboll – Alabama offensive coordinator -$1.2 million
T-7. Kevin Steele – Auburn defensive coordinator – $1.2 million
9. Bob Shoop – Tennessee defensive coordinator – $1.155 million
It remains to be seen whether or not some of these coaches will remain with their teams much longer. Both Kevin Steele and Jeremy Pruitt have both been brought up as possible names to become the next head coach at Tennessee.
