Pro Football Focus has released the latest version of their college football dream team, a list of the most dominant players at each position in college football, and seven SEC players have made the list.
Leading the way– to no surprise– is Alabama with three players. The Crimson Tide have one at each level of the defense. Jonathan Allen earns at spot in the defensive interior, as Pro Football Focus calls him “the most disruptive player in the nation this season.” The two other Tide players to make the cut are linebacker Reuben Foster (“the top-graded linebacker in the country”) and cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick, who has recorded three interceptions on the season.
Outside of Tuscaloosa, four additional SEC stars find their name on the list. At tight end is Evan Engram from Ole Miss, far and away the best at his position in the conference, and evidently the best in the nation. Arkansas center Frank Ragnow also makes the Dream Team, as he’s graded as Pro Football Focus’ best run-blocker so far this season.
Finally, joining those three Alabama players on the defensive side of the ball are Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett and Vanderbilt linebacker Zach Cunningham. Despite suffering some nagging injuries, Garrett has still been incredibly impressive, and as Pro Football Focus says, “When healthy, he’s the nation’s most explosive pass-rusher.” Last but not least is Cunningham, the heart of soul of the Vanderbilt team, and perennially one of college football’s most underrated players. He leads Power-5 linebackers with 49 stops, according to Pro Football Focus.
