You heard it all week: Georgia was “Alabama East.” The Bulldogs were playing true Crimson Tide football, while the team in Tuscaloosa was struggling to establish its identity.
There were long stories written — and gobbled up — about how former Alabama assistant Jeremy Pruitt and his Georgia defense had developed a distinct Tide mentality.
Even ‘Bama coach Nick Saban admitted it.
“That’s the kind of team that we’ve always sort of aspired to have here,” he said this week. “And it sort of looks like that’s the kind of team they have developed there.”
But that narrative clearly bothered some Alabama staffers.
