The play was physical comedy: Stud Arkansas running back Alex Collins stepped up to pass protect against Alabama linebacker Dillon Lee, and Lee tossed Collins aside like a rag doll.
This, after Razorbacks running backs coach Jemal Singleton spent most of Thursday propping up Collins’ pass-pro abilities.
“He gets as fired up about getting a knock down on pass protection than he does about his carries,” Singleton said. “There’s not a running back in the country I’d want on third downs in pass protection than Alex Collins.”
Maybe he was off-balance or momentarily caught by the spirit, but this was a damned poor effort from Collins — and some scary strength from an unheralded piece of Alabama’s front seven.
