When Nick Saban calls, you listen.
And three-star running back Lamical Perine from Theodore, Ala., has in recent weeks, as Alabama has made a concerted effort to recruit the current Florida commit.
“He’s a great man, a winner,” Perine said of Saban. “He’s one of the top coaches of all time. If you have coach Saban calling your phone, that’s telling you something. He really wants you.”
Perine, who picked up an offer from Alabama in November, said the Crimson Tide continue to pursue him aggressively. Saban has been on the other end of several phone calls, according to Perine. And just this past Friday, he received a visit from Alabama running backs coach Burton Burns at his high school.
“They’ve been visiting me a lot and talking to me a lot,” Perine said.
But the homegrown roots don’t appear to be working in Alabama’s favor. Perine maintained he is still firmly committed to Florida. He categorized his commitment as ‘100 percent’.
The 5-foot-11, 210-pound senior tells SEC Country he will take his second official visit of the year to Florida on Jan. 29. He also did not rule out the possibility of taking an official visit to Alabama sometime soon, either.
Perine is rated as the No. 35 player in Alabama.
