Alabama has just started basking in the glory of its fourth national title in seven seasons, but the oddsmakers in Las Vegas think the Crimson Tide should be getting ready to celebrate a fifth title in eight years.
The Westgate Las Vegas Superbook lists Alabama as a 6-1 favorite to win the 2016 College Football Playoff national championship, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.

There will be plenty of changes in Tuscaloosa, Ala., however. The Tide will have to reload at the quarterback position and maybe at running back, if Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry declares for the NFL draft, and could lose a majority of defensive starters. Nick Saban will also be losing defensive coordinator Kirby Smart to Georgia.
The next SEC teams on the Superbook’s odds list are LSU and Tennessee, who are listed at 15-1 odds to win the title. LSU nearly fired Les Miles, but will have a loaded roster returning that includes star tailback Leonard Fournette. The Volunteers will also have plenty of talent returning to Knoxville, Tenn., next season after ending the season on a six-game winning streak. The Vols are a sleeper pick in the SEC next season.
Coming in next on the Westgate’s list is Ole Miss at 20-1 odds. The Rebels will lose three of their best players to the NFL in Laquon Treadwell, Laremy Tunsil and Robert Nkemdiche, but will still have quarterback Chad Kelly and plenty of talent around him.
A couple of SEC longshots could be Auburn and Georgia, who are listed at 30-1 odds. It would take quite a turnaround for both programs. Auburn finished a disappointing 7-6 season with a bowl victory over Memphis, while Georgia will be under first-year head coach Kirby Smart.
