Alabama’s Derrick Henry, LSU’s Leonard Fournette would hate to tackle each other
Know this about SEC superstars Derrick Henry and Leonard Fournette: The respect is mutual.
One day after LSU’s Fournette complimented Henry, the ‘Bama back returned the favor on Tuesday.
“That’s a big boy to bring down,” Henry told AL.com‘s Michael Casagrande. “He runs the ball physically. Whew. That’s a big boy to bring down. I probably wouldn’t (want to tackle him), but he runs the ball the right way.”
Monday afternoon, Fournette was incredulous when asked to say what makes Henry special.
“What stands out about him?” Fournette asked NOLA.com‘s Jim Kleinpeter. “You’ve never seen him in person? He’s huge, he’s three times bigger than me. 6-3. You just have to tackle him, that’s all.”
Easier said than done.
“If I played defense, I wouldn’t want to tackle him,” Fournette admitted. “But that’s your job to tackle him, so I would have to make a business decision every time you go against him.”
Alabama hosts LSU on Saturday night (8 pm ET, CBS). If you’re headed out that way, be sure to remember your raincoat.
