It seems like Alabama was the only team that SEC fans could count on from week-to-week this season. And the Week 13 Amway Coaches Poll reflects that uncertainty beyond the league’s top team.
The Crimson Tide remained at the No. 1 spot after a 30-12 win against Auburn in the Iron Bowl, receiving all 64 first-place votes.
But it was a significant drop off for the league from there. Auburn was one of the teams to feel that impact after a poor showing in Tuscaloosa, dropping three spots from No. 16 to No. 19 in the poll.
Florida, which will play Alabama for the SEC Championship in Atlanta on Saturday, could not carry the moment from a win at LSU into Tallahassee on Saturday. The Gators lost 31-13, and fell three spots in the poll from No. 13 to No. 16.
Texas A&M lost another November home game on Thanksgiving, as Ed Oregeron’s LSU squad put up 53 points on former Tigers defensive coordinator John Chavis. The Aggies dropped out of the Top 25 as a result, while LSU worked its way back on the radar at No. 21 this week after entering Week 13 unranked.
Tennessee, which had jumped back into the ranking in Week 12, suffered a shocking loss to Vanderbilt in Nashville on Saturday night. On top of losing their chances at the Sugar Bowl as a result of the loss, the Vols also are no longer in the Top 25.
Here’s a look at the new Amway Coaches Poll, which was released on Sunday, reflecting the outcome of Week 13 games:
