With three SEC games featuring head-to-head matchups between ranked teams in Week 4, there was bound to be a shakeup in the conference’s rankings in the Associated Press Top 25.
Alabama remained the league’s constant in what turned into a wild weekend, shutting out Kent State in convincing fashion to retain its top spot in the poll.
Texas A&M helped its continued upward climb with a convincing 45-24 victory against Arkansas. The Aggies moved up from No. 10 to No. 9. The Razorbacks fell three spots from No. 17 to No. 20.
Tennessee remained unbeaten by knocking off Florida for the first time since 2004. The Vols moved up three spots from No. 14 to No. 11, while Florida fell four spots from No. 19 to No. 23.
Conference play also got the best of LSU in Week 4, as Auburn squeaked by with a 18-13 win in Jordan-Hare Stadium after officials overturned a game-winning touchdown for LSU via booth review. As a result, LSU dropped from No. 18 to being outside of the Top 25 this week.
Georgia was the SEC’s big loser of the week. The Bulldogs dropped 12 spots from No. 13 to No. 25 after Ole Miss beat the Bulldogs 45-14. The victory pushed the Rebels up seven spots in the week’s rankings. Ole Miss is No. 16 in the latest poll after beginning the week as No. 23.
