PEARL, Miss. — Jim Harbaugh spends plenty of time mulling over his attire before each and every satellite camp.
His trip to the Magnolia State on Wednesday was no exception.
Michigan’s coach donned an old-school Archie Manning jersey before attending the Pearl High School Satellite Camp in Mississippi. However, he revealed the former Ole Miss great was his second choice.
Harbaugh originally intended to honor another Mississippi college football legend.
“I played with Walter (Payton) in Chicago, so I tried to find a Jackson State Walter Payton jersey,” Harbaugh said during the satellite camp. “I couldn’t find it down here, and I had the Archie one, so I went with that.”
Harbaugh’s jersey selection has been a widely talked about topic of conversation as the coach makes his way throughout different parts of the country. The black and gold Manning jersey certainly drew rave reviews in Pearl, Miss.
Even though the coach had to go with his Plan B, he was perfectly content with either choice.
“Well, you cant get better than those two,” Harbaugh said. “Archie Manning and Walter Payton are class acts, real winners all the way and I know them both.”
