Navy and Louisiana Tech have played in (and won) several notable games this season. Both teams struggled and lost their last two games and will now try to go into the holidays on a more positive note.
After losing two key players in their conference championship game and then suffering a tough defeat to Army, a win could mean more for the Midshipmen. Still, the Bulldogs won’t just roll over. Under Skip Holtz, La. Tech has started to learn how to win over the last couple of seasons.

Armed Forces Bowl: Louisiana Tech vs. Navy keys to the game
- Operating without offensive options
Navy lost quarterback Will Worth to an ankle injury and running back Toneo Gulley to a foot injury in its American Athletic Conference championship loss to Temple. Now the Midshipmen, who were led by Worth’s 2,593 yards of offense, will have to find other ways to move the ball. Backup Zach Abey will have to come in and handle a starting role with just a few bowl practices to prepare. Self-inflicted errors will hurt the Midshipmen.
2. Gaining momentum on offense
Louisiana Tech is in a very different situation offensively. The Bulldogs are led by Ryan Higgins, who threw for 4,200 yards (37 touchdowns) in 2016. La. Tech nearly upset Arkansas in its season opener and at one point had a seven-game win streak going. It would be a significant accomplishment if the Bulldogs were able to reach nine wins for the third consecutive season under head coach Skip Holtz.
