The college football season is nearing the halfway point, and that means we have a much clearer picture of what the hot seat looks like this season.
The Associated Press’ Ralph D. Russo released his list of coaches on the hot seat — and the degree to which they’re in trouble — on Tuesday night. Tennessee’s Butch Jones headlines the list, but four other SEC coaches join him:

Along with Jones, Arkansas’ Bret Bielema, Missouri’s Barry Odom, Florida’s Jim McElwain and Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin also got a mention.
Bielema’s reported buyout of $12 million might be too high for Arkansas to pull the trigger on forcing him out. Odom is only in year two of his deal with Missouri, but the Tigers have appeared to give up on their head coach. McElwain still has a chance to save his job for another year, but games against Georgia and Florida State will be critical.
Sumlin is in another boat entirely. After appearing to be on the outs following A&M’s historic collapse against UCLA on opening weekend, the Aggies have rallied. Texas A&M has lost just one time since then — an 8-point loss to Alabama, the Tide’s smallest margin of victory all season — and appear to be on the rise. A 10-win season is still on the table for Sumlin and the Aggies.
