With college football approaching, excitement is building as to how next season will play out.
Athlon reporter Steve Lassan projected every bowl for the 2017 season and he has 12 SEC teams making postseason appearances.
Alabama, which lost last season in the national title game to Clemson, is picked to defeat Washington in the CFP semifinals (Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1) and then face off with Ohio State in Atlanta for the championship on Jan. 8.
A pair of SEC schools are also predicted to make New Year’s Six bowls.
Auburn is projected to play South Florida in the Chick Fil-A Bowl on Jan. 1. LSU is tabbed to go up against Southern California on Dec. 30 in the Fiesta Bowl.
As for the rest of the slate, Lassan projected:
Georgia vs. Miami in the Citrus Bowl (Jan. 1), Tennessee vs. Wisconsin in the Outback Bowl (Jan. 1), South Carolina vs. West Virginia in the Liberty Bowl (Dec. 30), Mississippi State vs. Virginia Tech in the Tax Slayer Bowl (Dec. 30), Kentucky vs. Indiana in the Music City Bowl (Dec. 29), Florida vs. Louisville in the Belk Bowl (Dec. 29), Arkansas vs. Baylor in the Texas Bowl (Dec. 27), Texas A&M vs. Pitt in the Independence Bowl (Dec. 27) and Vanderbilt vs. Tulsa in the Birmingham Bowl (Dec. 23).
