Will Muschamp said earlier in the week that changes would be coming to Auburn’s defense after last week’s blowout loss to LSU.
Auburn will have three new starters on defense for Saturday’s game against Mississippi State: cornerback Jeremiah Dinson and linebackers Justin Garrett and Tre’ Williams.
Safety and leading tackler Johnathan “Rudy” Ford has been benched. Linebackers Cassanova Mckinzy and Kris Frost will also begin the game on the bench.
Dinson will join fellow true freshman Carlton Davis in the secondary along with sophomore Tray Matthews and senior Blake Countess, who shifted from cornerback to safety. Garrett missed last week’s game with a quad injury.
DaVonte Lambert, Dontavius Russell, Montravius Adams and Raashed Kennion will start on the defensive line.
Auburn allowed LSU to gain 485 yards of total offense a week ago, including 411 rushing yards, in a 45-21 loss.
