The most overrated team in the country going into next season can be found in the SEC.
Or so says analyst Barrett Sallee, who revealed his top 5 overrated teams heading into the 2017 season on SiriusXM College Sports Nation. LSU tops the list, followed by Michigan, Louisville, Texas and Notre Dame.
Check out his tweet below.

That’s a pretty bold statement.
It remains to be seen what LSU will do in its first full season under Ed Orgeron, but it’s possible that the Tigers will beat Sallee’s expectations. Sure, there’s buzz around new offensive coordinator Matt Canada. Plus, defensive coordinator Dave Aranda is back. Then, there’s prolific running back Derrius Guice, who had 1,387 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns last season.
LSU has developed a reputation of underachievement in recent years, largely due to its inconsistent quarterback play. But if the Tigers can gain more consistency behind center, it’s not crazy to picture LSU beating its total of eight victories in 2016.
If anything, Auburn is a team from the SEC that could disappoint, given its offseason hype. We’ll see how things shake out this fall, but the SEC West should be fun to follow.
