Where are the top college baseball stadiums in America? They’re in the SEC, of course.
Baseball America released its 2018 rankings of the Top 10 stadiums in college baseball, and let’s just say that there’s little doubt as to which conference provides the best atmosphere for a ball game this spring.
The SEC claimed the top three spots on the list, all ahead of TD Ameritrade Park, which hosts the College World Series in Omaha each year and Creighton University during the regular season. In total, the league placed five inside the Top 10.
A quick rundown of the SEC venues that were chosen:
1. Baum Stadium: Home of the Arkansas Razorbacks
With attendance numbers that are always near the nation’s best and an atmosphere that rivals any in the country, Arkansas was an easy choice for Baseball America’s Teddy Cahill. He referred to the venue as “one of the crown jewels of college baseball.” Hard to argue with that.
2. Alex Box Stadium: Home of the LSU Tigers
When you lead the nation in attendance for more than two decades, you’re doing something right with your college baseball atmosphere. A great product, large crowd and a solid atmosphere puts Alex Box Stadium near the top of this list. Some LSU fans would argue the venue should be No. 1, and they probably could make a pretty compelling case.
3. Dudy Noble Field: Home of the Mississippi State Bulldogs
Renovations or not, this is one of the best places to watch a college baseball game in the entire country. The Bulldogs are pouring massive resources into making this gem better than ever, and even Cahill admits that Starkville could sit atop this list once everything is complete.
7. Blue Bell Park: Home of the Texas A&M Aggies
Count Blue Bell Park and the Aggies baseball program as just another reason why Texas A&M was a great addition to the SEC. The atmosphere in this venue, and the quality of product put on the field within it, make it an easy choice for this list.
10. Founders Park: Home of the South Carolina Gamecocks
South Carolina has an amazing tradition of supporting its baseball program, which has proven capable of winning national titles in Omaha. Though the Gamecocks aren’t on top of their game at the moment, Founders Park remains worthy of a mention on this list.
