That doesn’t mean he’s finished making noise. Musburger’s new sports betting venture in Las Vegas, VSIN, has been well publicized.
He still, of course, pays attention to college football and gave his take on the SEC in a recent podcast with Awful Announcing. Musburger was speaking about the time he had working with the SEC Network.
The one thing they’ve got to work with now, and it’s going to be a little bit difficult for them, the SEC is down okay. The days of their dominance, that’s long gone right now. I mean you’ve got Alabama and everybody else with what’s going on in the conference.
Nearly every SEC fan except anyone who cheers for the Crimson Tide would likely disagree with this statement. While Clemson recently took the crown, Alabama still has four national titles since 2009. While some say that’s all that matters, others have argued that the Crimson Tide’s dominance does the rest of the conference a disservice. It takes a lot out of each team when they play Alabama and teams often look to try and avoid the “Alabama hangover” in the next game which could be a loss.
No matter what metric you use on the field, it’s tough to argue against the unparalleled passion of SEC fans coupled with the culture surrounding the stadiums on gameday.
