Cam Newton’s younger brother has decided on a college, but Caylin Newton won’t be playing in the SEC.
On Thursday, Caylin announced on Twitter that he’ll attend Howard University in Washington, D.C. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound quarterback threw for 3,322 yards with 33 touchdowns and 8 interceptions this past season playing for Grady High School in Atlanta. In addition, he ran for 1,036 yards on 92 carries with 13 touchdowns.
Caylin attended Auburn’s camp in July 2015, and he made an unofficial visit to the school last February. But his only offers were from Howard, Hampton, Kentucky Christian and Savannah State.
“To be honest, I think (his recruitment) should have gone much better than it did,” Grady coach Earthward Moreland told Wesley Sinor of AL.com. “But moving forward, I think he’s happy with his decision he’s made. He’s just going to go from there.”
