A CBS Sports computer simulation gives the SEC’s representatives in the College Football Playoff a solid chance to meet in the national championship game.
On Sunday, the pairing for the Rose and Sugar bowls were revealed. Shortly after, CBS Sports’ Ben Kercheval shared word that, per SportsLine’s Stephen Oh, Alabama has a 65 percent chance of beating Clemson in the Sugar Bowl by a projected score of 23-19. Georgia, meanwhile, has a 51 percent chance of beating Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl by a projected score of 28-27.
Of course, it would be surprising if either of those games turned into a blowout. Both matchups are appealing, and they provide plenty of juicy storylines.
But wouldn’t it be something if Georgia and Alabama met in Atlanta with a national championship at stake? That would be quite the moment for the SEC. We’ll see if it goes down as CBS Sports predicts.
