Prepare to believe, SEC fans.
Some fan bases have more reason to hope than others this season. Of course, Alabama should be strong again. Of course, most expect Auburn and LSU to threaten in the SEC West.
But what about potential dark horses in the conference?
CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli created an interesting post featuring three teams from the SEC East that he believes are “the best positioned to step up and surprise us.” He picks Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee and gives his explanation for each.
Be sure to click on the complete post to see why he mentioned the Wildcats, Tigers and Volunteers. But they’re interesting picks.
Cases can be made for each to surprise this fall. Momentum has been building for Kentucky under coach Mark Stoops. Missouri boasted a productive offense last year and figures to take a step forward under coach Barry Odom in his second year. Tennessee has questions, but perhaps coach Butch Jones beats lower expectations in 2017.
Thankfully, the time for talk will end soon. But it would be interesting to see any of those three SEC East teams rise and create intrigue in the division.
