When it came to on-the-field play, Alabama was clearly better than Tennessee. That was proven in last Saturday’s 49-10 Crimson Tide win.
But which of those teams is more exciting to watch on a weekly basis?
According to CBS Sports writer Tom Fornelli, that is clearly the Vols. Fornelli ranked the five most exciting college football team to watch on Friday and listed Tennessee at No. 1 on his list.
Sure, the Vols couldn’t keep close with the top-ranked Crimson Tide. But how about all the other great games they’ve played this year? Tennessee had thrilling, come-from-behind wins over Florida and Georgia, then nearly did it again in a double-overtime loss to Texas A&M.
“So, yeah, the Vols are a team with bi-polar disorder that refuses to take its meds, which may not be a good thing for it, but it’s fantastic entertainment for you,” Fornelli writes in the article.
Even though Alabama doesn’t play close games — it only has one margin of victory smaller than 19 points in its first seven games — Fornelli still included the Tide on his list of exciting teams to watch, ranking them at No. 5.
The Crimson Tide are still nearly unbeatable and they haven’t faced many challenges. But they have playmakers on offense and even their defense and special teams are putting up points, scoring 11 non-offensive touchdowns so far.
“As a result it’s just a lot more fun to watch Alabama destroy people this year,” Fornelli writes.
