It’s a 4-team race for CJ Avery, and it will soon be over.
The 4-star safety from Grenada (Miss.) High School announced on Sunday that he will be committing on Dec. 14. He will choose between Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Auburn and Louisville.

The 6-foot-1, 196-pound safety holds offers from 15 schools. He is rated as the nation’s No. 19 safety and the state of Mississippi’s No. 6 overall player.
Throughout the season, Avery took official visits to Cal, Auburn, Clemson, Louisville and Mississippi State. He also went on two unofficial visits to Ole Miss.
At this point, Avery is considered a Mississippi State lean with 54 percent of recruiting analysts pegging him to the Bulldogs, according to 247Sports’ Crystal Ball predictions. Louisville is given a 23 percent chance and Ole Miss an 8 percent shot.
