Colin Cowherd recently discussed his top-25 college football programs of all-time on his FOX Sports radio and television shows and now he has come back with a similar list that goes back only to 1970.
Why is he doing this? Well, he’s trying to show choices are a bit different if you’re examining only the most recent 45 years and not trying to judge the best in the entire history of the college game.
It’s not much of a surprise that Cowherd picked Alabama as the top program since 1970. The Crimson Tide has won eight national titles in that span, the most of any program.
The only other SEC school to make his top-10 was Florida, which is somewhat surprising until you hear the four criteria on which Cowherd made his picks. He says his four categories are national titles, conference titles, players in the NFL Draft and relevance in the past 15 years. Based on those four categories, it’s a lot easier to see why he likes the Gators.
Here is his full top-10 and a video of him explaining some of his picks:
7. Florida State
10. Notre Dame
