The day has finally arrived. The College Football Playoff committee announced which teams will square off in both semifinal games on Sunday, and the top four shaped up almost exactly as expected.
No. 2 Alabama, the SEC’s lone representative after winning its second consecutive conference title with Saturday’s 29-15 victory over Florida, will play No. 3 Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl on Dec. 31. It will be the Tide’s first time facing the Spartans and Nick Saban disciple Mark Dantonio since they dominated Michigan State, 49-7, in the 2011 Capital One Bowl.
Here are both Playoff matchups:
Orange Bowl (Dec. 31, Miami): No. 1 Clemson (13-0) vs. No. 4 Oklahoma (11-1)
Cotton Bowl (Dec. 31, Arlington, Texas): No. 2 Alabama (12-1) vs. No. 3 Michigan State (12-1)
Stay tuned. The Playoff committee will release its full Top 25 on ESPN at 3 p.m. ET.
