College GameDay heading to Atlanta for Week 1 of 2017 season
ESPN College GameDay has announced its destination for Week 1 of the 2017 college football season.
The popular kickoff show will open the year from Atlanta, the site of the season opener between Alabama and Florida State, on Sept. 2. The Crimson Tide and Seminoles will be playing at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It was announced on Twitter on Wednesday morning.

College GameDay goes to a different site each week, usually a college campus. But with the huge non-conference matchup between two of the nation’s top teams in Alabama and Florida State, it’s no surprise why the show is headed to a big city to open the season.
Atlanta is also the site of the SEC Championship Game at the end of the season.
It’s not an easy decision for College GameDay to decide where it will host its show this week, as a long process goes into making that decision.
