Florida kicker Austin Hardin is statistically the worst kicker in college football (minimum 10 field goal attempts), so it makes sense that one day after the SEC championship game, Gators coach Jim McElwain was on the road and inside the home of the best kicker recruit in the country.
Eddy Pineiro, the top-rated junior college kicker, who is an Alabama commit, took an official visit to Florida last weekend for the Florida State game and was pictured riding around in a car with McElwain the day after that game.
After the 29-15 loss to Alabama, McElwain made a harsh comment about Hardin and the team’s dreadful kicking situation.
“We’ll get worked on this kicking thing, and somebody will get it up over the line far enough that maybe somebody doesn’t block it with their armpit,” McElwain said.
It’s clear that Pineiro is Florida’s top target to replace Hardin next season. Check out Pineiro drilling a 77-yard field goal in practice.
