Tim Tebow got the news Sunday that his time in Columbia had come to an end, as he earned a promotion in the New York Mets farm system to advanced Class A ball with the St. Lucie Mets.
Before his final game with Columbia Fireflies, Tebow spoke with reporters about his time in the South Carolina city. Tebow played 63 games for the Fireflies, hitting .222 with 3 home runs and 23 RBI.
“The goal is to when you’re somewhere, hopefully you leave it a little better than you found it,” Tebow told reporters, per The State. “Hopefully that was the case here, but also the people here had a great impact on me as well. It’s a great town, a great city. A lot of really awesome people.”
He jokingly added that he still wasn’t a fan of Gamecocks.
Tebow is set to make his debut with the St. Lucie Mets on Tuesday, June 27.
