Four-star wide receiver Mykel Jones skipped his scheduled official visit to Ole Miss this weekend and decided to officially visit Oklahoma instead, according to Crimson and Cream Machine.
Jones, a top-250 prospect, named Ole Miss his leader on Jan. 4, but he also listed Alabama and Tennessee among his three finalists.
The 6-foot, 180-pound Patterson, La., native took an official visit to Alabama on Jan. 15, but he skipped his official visit to Tennessee last weekend before making a trip to visit the Sooners this weekend. Jones tweeted a photo with Alabama’s Nick Saban after the coach came for an in-home visit on Thursday.
While the Rebels appeared to be the leader for his services, Ole Miss landed a commitment from four-star wide receiver Tre Nixon last week. The Rebels also have four-star wide receiver D.K. Metcalf on their commitment list and are a finalist for four-star wide receiver A.J. Brown.
Alabama also has two wide receivers on its commitment list and is a finalist for Brown. With National Signing Day right around the corner, it could be a numbers game that pushes Jones to a school.
However, Oklahoma received a commitment from three-star wide receiver Zach Farrar, who flipped to the Sooners from Mississippi State on Sunday. The Sooners already have four wide receivers on their commitment list.
Jones is the No. 48 wide receiver in the country and the No. 15 player in the state of Louisiana.
