Alabama had the week off, but there were several other unbeaten squads that put their perfect records on the line and lost.
ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit took the crazy action in Week 9, which included losses by unbeatens West Virginia, Baylor and Nebraska, as well as close calls for Clemson and Louisville, into consideration as he released his new Top 4.
Alabama remained at the top of his list, and Michigan checked in at No. 2 after a win against in-state rival Michigan State.
Herbstreit saw Clemson’s narrow victory against Florida State in person, as he was the color analyst for the ABC telecast. The College GameDay personality saw enough out of the Tigers to keep them at No. 3.
Washington survived a road game at Utah, and as a result the Huskies occupied the No. 4 spot in Herbstreit’s rankings.
