ESPN analyst trolls SEC after “cupcakes” give several teams trouble
With a weak slate of non-conference games dominating the schedule, Saturday already wasn’t expected to be a banner one for the SEC. Then The Citadel upset South Carolina, 23-22, while Florida and UGA both barely held on to notch home overtime wins against Florida Atlantic and Georgia Southern, respectively.
Needless to say, the conference’s national perception was not at an all-time high, and that gave the ever-present SEC haters a perfect opening to bash the conference.
Former Florida State quarterback and ESPN analyst Danny Kanell was, of course, no exception.
“My apologies to the cupcakes. Gave the SEC all they could handle. #cupcakewars,” Kanell tweeted.
The Gators will soon have a prime chance to make Kanell eat his words, as they host the Seminoles at The Swamp this coming Saturday.
